Rowhouses at High Rock: New Urban

Rowhouse Architecture

Balzer and Tuck collaborated with local developers to guide a multi-phased project to completion. A modern interpretation of 19th century Victorian style, this 15-unit rowhouse project became the finishing piece in the re-establishment of a long-neglected corner of Saratoga Springs, New York.

“Balzer and Tuck delivered. Modern amenities blended with the historic character of the 1800s…they ensured the rowhouses will stand the test of time.” – Sonny Bonacio, Bonacio Construction

Key Challenges and Solutions

  • A sense of individuality amongst the units was created with unique details, including custom wood entry doors and various bay window configurations.
  • The new building was integrated into the existing urban setting with traditional brick, a chiseled-face block base, elevated porches, gated areaways and landscaped gardens.
  • In the interior, a crafted wood staircase remains open through all three stories to connect the stacked volumes of the homes.
